What is ‘Phin’?

Phin is commonly known as the Vietnamese filter. Still, in its country of origin, more than just a device, Phin is well regarded as an experience.

Phin is quite simple to use, yet the resulting coffee taste can be rewarding. A Phin set comes with four main components: a round perforated plate, another smaller perforated insert, a brewing chamber, and a small cap on top of everything. The circular perforated plate will sit tightly on your coffee mug or cup. The coffee grinds can then be added to the chamber connected to the round perforated plate. The filter insert can then be twisted down inside the chamber, ensuring all the goodness of your beans is packed into this tiny device. Water can now be poured on top and once again after 60 seconds of blooming. Finally, the little cap goes on top of everything as you let the heat brings out the best of your beans with every single drip.

It can take several minutes of dripping before you get a full cup. Perhaps that is why ‘Phin’ is such a soothing experience. As you sit back and relax, let every drip fills your room with the aroma of coffee and gain yourself a moment of leisure. Let that moment be the time for you to converse with a friend, a book, or even with yourself. By the time Phin finishes its last drop, you will have a fresh coffee cup as you unwind. With the fast life in New York City, Phin is a reminder that you can always slow down and enjoy the little tastiness that life can offer.

Depending on the beans you use, Phin coffee can come with a variety of flavors. Whether dripping into an empty steamy cup or a playful one full of ice and condensed milk, Phin will get you a flavorful coffee cup in any way you like. Here at Phinny Brewhouse, we encourage you to try out the dark, vibrant, and robust flavor from Vietnamese coffee beans. Vietnamese Phin Coffee is available daily at Phinny Brewhouse.
